Position Overview

Manages a team responsible for the sourcing and category management needs and requirements of the company.  Oversees the sourcing channels for direct and/or indirect spend categories as assigned. 


1. Serve as part of the Procurement organization leadership team, providing input and collaboration to the VP of Supply Chain in the development and roll-out of key Category Management and Strategic Sourcing strategies, ensuring category management support activities are aligned with overall Procurement Strategy and that this one is ultimately in alignment with business strategy. 2. Leads and manages a team of category management professionals to meet the sourcing and procurement needs of the company.  Provides on-going coaching and development in all areas of performance.  Recruit, develop, manage and mentor talent.

3. Ensures advanced quantitative and business analyses identify financial impacts of decisions and performance for complex and new procurement categories.  Ensures service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) for suppliers are defined and monitored to ensure contract obligations are met.  Ensures procurement categories are thoroughly researched, benchmarked and analyzed to market.

4. Coordinate and support negotiation with division and corporate function leadership on internal resource requirements for annual project pipeline plan.

5. Develops, maintains and manages a disciplined sourcing process to support strategic sourcing, supply management and operations objectives. Partners with functional areas to align strategies and agreements with company needs and objectives.

6. Oversees and manages procurement programs for assigned category including planning, coordinating with stakeholders, estimating completion, and status briefings.

7. Develops sourcing strategies for assigned categories and negotiates with suppliers to maximize value and cost savings and minimize risk to achieve TruGreen goals, business requirements and customer needs.

8. Champions the adoption of procurement policies, procedures, standards, systems and practices.

9. Facilitates the segmentation of suppliers within assigned categories and the implementation of management programs to monitor, continuously improve and govern SLAs/KPIs of the supply base.

10. Develops and manages relationships with key internal stakeholders to facilitate strategic sourcing strategies that optimize the value of products and services.  Maintains continuous cost reduction programs for controllable expenditures.  Communicates, manages, and drives internal compliance with category strategies.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, supply management or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in procurement, supply management and contract negotiations or related fields required
  • Finance/accounting and operations experience required
  • Supervisory management experience required
