Position Overview

Responsible for preparing journal entries and preparing reconciliations for assigned accounts.  Serves as liaison to operational and functional departments.


Responsibilities


  • Monthly and quarterly preparation of consolidated financial reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and statements of cash flows.
  • Preparing analyses to assist with forecasting and budgeting.  
  • Accounting for corporate level transactions such as IT capital projects, intangible assets and highly judgmental reserve accounts.  
  • Preparing journal entries and reconciliations for these assigned accounts.
  • Preparing and recording journal entry (as above) and reviewing of journal entries in less complex areas.
  • Verifying GL postings for certain expenses agree to supporting documentation: and identify/research/resolve differences.
  • Participating in the development and design of accounting processes to mitigate controls risks.
  • Assessing accounting impacts of changes in the business and organization.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Critically evaluating processes and implementing new/revised processes and procedures for improved efficiency.
  • Serving as liaison to operational and functional departments.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and 5 - 7 years of accounting experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Financial presentation experience strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices

  • Computer skills with Microsoft Access and Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and accounting software (e.g., JD Edwards, Cognos)

  • Ability to work collaboratively cross-functionally contributing to team success

  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects concurrently

  • Detail oriented, highly motivated with strong work ethic and quality orientation

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to analyze accounts, identify variances and unusual trends, and interpret results

  • Understanding of business processes and impact of such processes on accounting processes/procedures, including identifying control risks

  • Technical/professional knowledge and skills

  • Adaptability, applied learning and initiating action

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

    Project management skills
