Position Overview


Supports the Category Managers and Directors for all program related needs, issues and initiatives for the categories assigned. Assists in the execution of category strategies through identifying process improvements and providing quantitative analytical skills.


Responsibilities

  • Places orders and manages inventory via Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/Procurement Tools
  • Processes requisitions into purchase orders, perform daily purchasing requirements and additional duties as assigned.
  • Helps Sourcing Analysts and Category Managers locate and interview (on an on-going basis) potential sources of materials or services with better value or with equivalent and/or superior quality                  
  • Prepares presentation documents for internal clients and potential vendors. Assists in presentations
  • Coordinates and negotiates with suppliers. Assists with complex contract preparation and negotiation as needed. Supports administration for approved contracts.
  • Supports “Request For” (RF) process
  • Prepares reports and contributes to Continuous Improvement Program, Supplier Development, and other Purchasing Programs as requested.
  • Coordinates, manages and documents regular supplier performance review meetings and ensures key actions are recorded, managed and tracked through to completion
  • Monitors the effectiveness of our supplier operations and their performance against key benchmarks (service-level agreements, key performance indicators etc.) in order to identify potential issues as early as possible.
  • Works with Sourcing Analysts and Category Managers to identify service improvements and cost reduction opportunities with our suppliers
  • Ensures supplier related documentation is maintained and kept up to date
  • Reviews our key supplier benchmarks against market best practices
  • Participates in special projects as identified by manager (including but not limited to negotiating, sourcing, contracting, cost modeling, project management)

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required with concentration in Materials Management, Procurement Mathematics, Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • Exposure to Purchasing procedures and computer experience with a variety of software preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Analytical skills with ability to collect and correlate information and data
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Mathematical skill to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, proportions, percentages, area and volume
  • Time management skills, including punctuality for on-time attendance
  • Practice high ethical standards and treat suppliers impartially. 
  • Knowledge of sourcing and category management concepts, principles, practices and strategies
  • Knowledge of contractual terms and conditions (e.g., indemnification, intellectual property, force majeure, amendments/exhibits, statements of work)
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Organizational, project and process management and leadership skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills, including delivering presentations
  • Business process analysis skills
  • Attention to detail and quantitative analytical skills
  • Ability to operate independently and collaboratively within a team
