Position Overview
Works within the prescribed change control processes, procedures and development methodology to design and implement Business Intelligence (BI) solutions and systems including Extract, Transform and Load (ETL/ELT), databases, data warehouses and reporting. Gathers business requirements, designs, develops, and implements BI/ETL solutions to be leveraged by report developers and end-users. Ensures high availability and functionality of systems and reports by working with internal support teams and third party support.


Responsibilities
1. Develops, tests, maintains, enhances, and supports Business Intelligence (BI) applications including our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), and provides specialized technical expertise to multi-faceted BI projects.
2. Works with stakeholders to understand and gather their information needs. Translates requirements into technical and functional designs for back-end and front-end solutions.
3. Works along cross-functional teams to assist with gathering and evaluating detailed project requirements. 4. Works with data stewards, external vendors and business users to resolve data questions/issues.
5. Develops ETL/ELT processes to acquire and load data from internal and external sources. Implements and supports all aspects of data integration, utilizing current SQL/ETL/ELT technologies.
6. Creates front-end solutions (traditional reports, dashboards, etc.) to support the business’ use of data. Develops, enhances, supports, and maintains reports, report definitions, dashboards and metadata layers. 7. Maintains technical documentation for processes, databases, applications and procedures, and project plans for development activities. Participates in end-user training, support and documentation. 8. Provides analysis and estimates for new project requests, as well as provides progress reports for ongoing projects.
9. Assists with process reviews and provides suggestions for improvement.
10. Analyzes, writes, and produces ad-hoc queries and/or reports as required.


Education and Experience Requirements 
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related field required and 5-7 years of design and development experience in relational databases, data integration, data warehousing and business intelligence required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• Experience working with industry BI tools required (Cognos, Microsoft, MicroStrategy, QlikView, Tableau). Experience working with Tableau preferred. 
• Experience performing tasks within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including requirements gathering, data analysis, design, development, quality assurance, and deployment required.
• Experience performing ETL/ELT within common industry tool/package.
• Experience designing, building, installing, configuring, administering and supporting the MicroSoft Database (MS DB) platform, to include creating tables, constraints, indexes, views, stored procedures, triggers, functions and cursors.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to document business requirements, and translate them into a documented technical design 
• Ability to lead and effectively facilitate design sessions with business to derive data and information requirements
• Strong data modeling and design skills. Thorough understanding of SQL, T-SQL 
• Advanced knowledge of data warehouse and techniques and BI best practices
• Advanced knowledge of relational databases and development 
• Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and attention to detail 
• Written and oral communication skills
• Ability to use tact and diplomacy to work effectively with teams 
• Ability to express complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences 
• Organizational and project management skills 
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities
• Computer skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) 
• Aptitude to learn new technologies with minimal direction
